Most of the lyrics are spoken in Spanish in “Telepatía.” Uchis explains that it would be inauthentic to sing completely in English or Spanish. As previously mentioned Uchis’ lover is with her telepathically not physically, much to her surprise in the first sentence of the where she croons “Quién lo diría que se podría hacer el amor por telepatía.” which translates to “Who would have known that you can make love telepathically.” Uchis goes on to mention how lonely she and her bed are and that even though she is “just a flight away” she can make do with their telepathic connection but prefers to see her lover. Uchis boosts about her potential ability when she regroups with lover with the lyric “Si te tuviera de frente, la mente te la volaría.” which translates to “If I had you in front of mе, I would blow your mind.” In the second verse, Uchis already knows what her lover wants due to their mental connection and wants to speak to them in their dreams. Uchis ends the song mention her lover’s voices for one final time.
After releasing an audio video and a lyric video, Uchis finally release the official music video for “Telepatía” on March 18th, 2021. In the self-directed video, We find Uchis stopping men and cars in their tracks with her beauty in her home country of Colombia. We see Uchis leaving a corner store buying some roses while the owner and oncoming traffic check her out. In the next scene we see Uchis dressed in red with a matching red feather performing her song in front of a projector. Uchis’ performance cuts back and forth to her once again causing men to stop in their tracks while she walks down the streets with her bikes. One man gets curious enough that he follows her to the top of a hill and finds her swinging. The video cuts between these clips. I wouldn’t say that the video has a certain message besides Kali Uchis is beautiful enough to stop traffic.
Personally, I find the song to be quite nice but it isn’t her best song on the album. I prefer “La Luz Enamorada” because of its chill, dreamy vibe and Uchis’ lower register. “!Aqui Yo Mando!” is another one of my favorites because of how feisty the lyrics are.
I give “Telepatía” 4.2 roses out of 5.
